McKenzie Families and Guests:
Welcome to the McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology website. The enrollment for the center is up significantly this year and there are few empty rooms to be found. With the increase in enrollment of 2,300 students, the hope is that we will be able to add additional technology labs in the future to supplement our present curriculum and to provide additional opportunities for technology classes. There are many activities that occur here that many people are unaware of.
- Career classes are approved as "select electives" for CORE 40.
- Our "robotics" team is starting its ninth year of competition. A meeting of interested parents and students was held and over 82 people were present for the initial meeting this year. Competition this year will be at Purdue University, Knoxville, TN and nationals will be held in St. Louis, MO.
- Three new classes are being added to the course offerings. Aerospace will be the capstone class for Project Lead the Way, Robotics will be presented as an offering outside of PLTW, but will have many ties to that curriculum and Digital Imaging Design will be added as a high tech business class for those looking for a future in journalism.
We hope you have a great year and if you have any questions about McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology, don't hesitate to get in touch.
